Identifying emperiled rainforests and adopting them for safekeeping is at the heart of our mission–our organization's very name reflects how important this is to us!

Understanding and caring about the natural world is vital for effective conservation, of course. However, at the end of the day, direct actions need to be taken to avoid the worst outcomes. Protecting intact ecosystems is particularly important because it can be incredibly difficult to restore ecosystems after they have been degraded or destroyed.

Private conservation intiatives play a unique and indispensable role in rainforest protection. Unlike large bureaucratic programs, private protected areas can act quickly, tailor solutions to local needs, and harness the passion of individuals and local communities.
